Aquatic Pond Study Laboratory Report

Please Note

Each student prepares an individual  laboratory report.  Data should be shared, however the graphs for each individual should be different.  They should be prepared on the computer.  Cherokee North Library is open after school on Monday.  On Tuesday, both during the school day and after school, the computers in D 208 may be used to work on these projects.

Cover Sheet - Title - Centered.  Page May Include Pictures and Name, date, section and lab partners in the lower right hand corner of the front page.

Problem or Purpose - Explain why it is important to study the primary productivity and health of a pond ecosystem.

Introduction - Discuss in several well written paragraphs the significance of dissolved oxygen in determining the health of an ecosystem.  This should include an explanation of the connection between dissolved oxygen and the mg of Carbon fixed through photosynthesis.  In other words discuss how photosynthesis determines productivity in an ecosystem and how it can be assessed.

Materials and Methods -

A.

Part One ( Dissolved oxygen ) Materials - Place in a bullet list

Part One Methods - Discuss three parts to dissolved oxygen: collection of water, fixing of dissolved oxygen and titration procedure

B.

Part Two( Spectrophotometry). Materials - Place in bullet list

Part Two Methods: spectrum and wave length, absrobance and % T, and Polluted pond graph.
