DNA GEL ELECTROPHORESIS
Interpretation of Data –
Lane 1- Lambda Phage( Hind II)
Lane 2 – DNA fragment
Lane 3- Plasmid
Lane 4 – Lambda Eco RI
Lane 5 – Kilobase Ladder
1 2 3 4 5
In order to graph your experimental results, you need to measure the distance that each fragment of DNA traveled in your marker( DNA Standard) Edvoktek #750
1. In Lane I, Measure the distance from the well for each of the six fragments of DNA. Check with your reference sheet and complete the chart below.
|

2. Label your graph. The X axis should be labeled with the linear scale in mm of distance from well
3. The Y axis should be in bases of DNA. The Y axis is logarithmic, so that each 1 represents a power of ten
4. The first one is 100, the second 1 is 1000( 103), the third one is 10,000(104), and the fifth one is 105( 10,000)
5. Plot the above data on your practice graph
Now measure the other lanes of the gel
