Cherokee H.S. Girls Soccer - History
27 year School Record: 293 - 197 - 35
2007 (12-8-1)
The lady chiefs had another fine season. We were a top 10 team all season long with a brutal schedule. All 8 losses were to the top 5 teams in south jersey and 3 of them were late in the game. The biggest highlight was the shootout victory over Eastern in the state tournament, it was a great game and an excellent job by the PK team going 5 for 5. Then another great job in the semi's against Lenape coming back from a 2-0 deficit. Can't forget the 4-2 victory over undefeated Moorestown in the coaches tournament or the hat trick by Linda Sierra in the 3-0 victory over CH East. This years team scored 46 goals, led by Jess with 10 and followed by Linda and Jet with 8. The team gave up 30 goals and recorded 5 shutouts. Congrates to Dana Grimes and Jess Lowinger for making the all south jersey team. On a final note, I would like to thank all the players and their families for 27 great year of fun and competition. A special thanks to Clap, Dilks and the rest of my friends who have coached with me.
2006 ( 7-7-1 )
The lady chiefs had one of those seasons that the ball just wouldn't go in the net. We played well overall and created a lot of opportunities. We would dominate games and hit the crossbar and the seconds latter we would be losing. We did a lot of things well individually but we didn't gel as a team. We started the season on a high note with a 5-0 victory over Winslow but lost 7 of the next 8 games. This put us in unfamiliar territory by not making the tournament. The only thing left was to play for pride. The ladies put it together and reeled off 5 straight victories out scoring the opponents by a score of 16 to 2. Win came against Lenape, CH East and Holy Cross all were in the top 10. Kasey Makowski was our leading scorer with 5 goals. Congrats to Carly Salter for making all south jersey for the second year in a row.
2005 ( 13 -8 )
The '05 lady chiefs were young and inexperienced, graduating 13 seniors with 7 starters. It took a few games for the team to get use to each others strengths. After going 1-3, the chiefs won 9 of the next 10 games. We were inconsistent throughout the season, we were real good or we were real poor on any given day. Our biggest wins were a 4-0 victory over Shawnee and a 4-0 victory over Washington Township after losing to them twice during the season. We finished ranked 7th in South Jersey and lost in the semi-finals of the State tournament. Offensively we scored 49 goals and allowed 26 as the defense and goalie Lauren Hessian recorded 9 shutouts. Our leading scorer was Corinne Pisciotta with 9 goals followed by Kristen Hessler, Carly Salter and Linda Sierra with 8 goals apiece. The chiefs are returning 15 players to the '06 squad. Congratulations to Hessler, Salter and Kasey Makowski for making the all south jersey team.
2004 (12 -7 - 1)
This was a year with a lot of returning players and expectations were high. The season started off well and we were 12-4, then we couldn't fine the back of the net and lost 3 straight games by a score of 1-0. Shutout victories over Lenape, Shawnee Eastern were the highlights of the season. The offense scored 41 goals led by Kristen Hessler with 13 followed by Carly Salter with 7 and Corinne Pisciotta with 6. The defense had another solid year led by Kirsten Trebisky, Megan Sandora, Kristi Gallo Caitlin Lutz, Krissy Overbeck and Kelli Salter allowing 26 goals. This was a great group of seniors who enjoyed playing the game. The team finished 13th in the rankings with Trebisky, Sandora and Hessler making all south jersey honors.
2003 ( 16 - 5 - 1 ) 2003 Pictures
A Great Season! Made it to the south jersey finals and lost in a shootout 5 - 4. Were we robbed when they didn't allow the goal? This team worked very hard, had fun playing, enjoyed each other and had very good leadership from its 6 seniors. The defense was the 2nd stingiest defense in south jersey allowing only 12 goals in 22 games. Led by Megan Turnbull, Amanda Wheeler, Kirsten Trebisky, Megan Sandora, Caitlin Lutz and goalies Angela Freeland & Lauren Hessian recorded 12 shut outs. Offensively we scored 49 goals led by NC State bound Jessica O"Rourke with 19 goals followed by Monmouth's Katie Bubnis with 9 and Olivia Saloman with 7.
