Description or Theme: You will be working on a group project (3-4 in a group). Each group member should be assigned a job. The following is a list of jobs necessary in order to complete the assignment. Research person-gather information on the STD/STI and narrow the information down to what is specifically related to the assignment. Computer person-person familiar and comfortable on working with computers. Creative/Idea person- person responsible for creating a presentation, responsible for art work, pictures, brochures, etc... Review/Recall person-person responsible for review/recall during presentation. Presenter-may involve the entire group, actual presentation to the class, make sure all parts are included, time limit 10-15 minutes.
Your group will be assigned a specific STD/STI. You will be given two days in the library to research information on the internet, a hot list will be provided, and books will be pulled out by the librarian..
After
you gather the information your group must create and present the information to
the class. You must provide a copy
of the information to the class in either a flyer or brochure format (other
ideas may be approved by the teacher). Your presentation must involve everyone in the group and must
include a visual aide (poster, pictures, drawings, power point, etc…)
that must be approved by the teacher. Your
presentation may include a summary of information, review, game, or any method
approved by the teacher. The
presentation must be a minimum of ten minutes to a maximum of fifteen (other
times may be approved in advance).
You must provide information on whether the
disease is a bacteria or a virus, signs and symptoms, types of transmission and
any treatment or cure. If there is
a target age for the disease it should be provided and any appropriate and
approved pictures may be provided. Information
on the amount of people acquiring the disease, percentages or any facts
indicating how communicable the disease is in the United States or World Wide.
This will help provide information regarding the dangers of promiscuous
or unsafe behaviors. Remember to list all your sources.
